BOOK REVIEW: World of Birds

This book promises to contain photos of birds that have only rarely been photographed. It is not mentioned which birds those exactly are, but there are indeed birds in this publication that I have never seen anywhere else.

Take some of the most beautiful photos of birds ever taken, put them together in a small book, have it printed in some cheap country and then try to sell it for a high price: that seems to have been the idea of the publishers of World of birds.

Let me be honest: the photographs in this book are truly amazing. Apart from the photos, the pages only contains the names of the birds and where they can be found. Nothing wrong with that. No names of the photographers, unfortunately, but that's okay.

However, my disappointment came after browsing through the book for barely fifteen minutes. Gatherings started to get loose from the binding. With a lot of care I managed to browse through all the pages, but the damage had been done. When I recently browsed through the book again, some gatherings tore off completely.

It should also be mentioned that the top and bottom sides of the pages are printed completely black. This looks very beautiful, but even with the cleanest of hands leaving fingerprints becomes almost inevitable.

In conclusion: this book contains breath-taking photos, but if you want to buy this book, you had better wait until the publisher decides to make another edition in a large format and one of better finishing quality. A missed chance really.

What I liked about it:

+  Really amazing photos

What I didn't like about it:

-  Binding is unacceptably bad
-  Much too small dimensions for this type of book
