BOOK REVIEW: Parrots of the World

On the back cover, this book promises to deal with all aspects of the life of parrots.
However, don't expect to find a profound explanation of their behaviour or biology. This book is rather a collection of photographs of parrots that the author encountered during his many trips. You can only envy him that he has seen so many different species. It has to be mentioned that not all the photos were taken by the author himself. At the back of the book there is a list with the names of the other photographers.

In most cases it is mentioned next to the photos how Steve Brookes managed to get close to the species, for example with the help of a local guide, or at what time of the day the encounter took place. Unfortunately, some photos lack sharpness, but overall this is not too much of a problem. Without a doubt the parrots have always been beautifully depicted.

While I was reading this book, I sometimes got the feeling that I was accompanying the author on his trips. The book does not contain thorough information about the different species, it is rather a personal view of the author on his numerous encounters in nature with various members of the parrot family. In my opinion this book definitely has its charm.

What I liked about it:

+  Photos of parrots in their natural habitat
+  Deals with a wide variety of species

What I didn't like about it:

-  Some photos are rather small and slightly unsharp.
