BIRDING TRIP: Laguna de Medina, Jerez de La Frontera, Spain

It was a quite windy, but mild and very sunny day. Time to visit the Medina Lagoon on the outskirts of Jerez de La Frontera. It was great to see that the Flamingos are back! I counted a few hundred of them.

Welcome back, Greater Flamingos!

Apart from Greater Flamingos, there were also still thousands of Gulls: Black-headed and Lesser Black-backed Gull.

This is also always a good place to spot some birds of prey. This time I saw a Buzzard, Marsh Harrier, Red Kite, Black-winged Kite and Kestrel.

Having visited this place many times, I can now more or less predict where to find which species. The usual species were present today and I was positively surprised to encounter a pair of Eurasian Siskins.

I had never seen so many Shovelers together. There were at least a hundred, but unfortunately they were quite far away in the water.
