BIRDING TRIP: Laguna de Medina, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain

Another beautiful day in February which already seemed to announce Spring was another good moment to visit our beloved Medina Lagoon. Not with any special goal in mind, just to enjoy the beautiful weather and see what birds were around. After another few weeks with hardly any rain, the level of the water had clearly gone down again. Of the flock of Flamingos that I spotted during my last visit, only two were still here.

Most remarkable was the presence of a flock of Northern Lapwings, over 50 individuals strong.

Common Buzzard

Apart from waders, this is a place where you can always spot some birds of prey. A Common Buzzard and some Kestrels were the hosts this afternoon.

The Canon 90D did an excellent job tracking the Kestrel through the shrubs
