Some rain was predicted for today in the late afternoon, but it stayed completely dry. I was hoping to see and photograph the Sterns that I saw during my last visit here, but the tide was high and the rocks on which they sat the last time were completely submerged. So no Sterns at all today.
It was a real quick visit but I still had a great time, although the numbers of birds I saw were rather low. At the very end of the trip I ran into a Spotted Flycatcher. I saw the bird in the distance but it came closer to me and sat on a metal fence, willingly posing with a freshly caught insect.

It was a relief to see that a fence has been put to protect the breeding area of the Kentish Plovers. |

We are barely at the beginning of May, but I have already observed 133 different bird species in the province of Cadiz, the same number that I observed in the whole of 2021. Of course it will only get harder now to spot new species, but sometimes they appear when you expect it the least.
