BIRDING TRIP: Laguna de Medina, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain

Although it has not rained for many weeks now, there is still plenty of water in the Medina lagoon. The highlight of my routine visit was at the end when I spotted a Woodchat Shrike that had just impaled a grasshopper onto a barbed wire.

I was also fortunate to spot a Garganey, for the first time ever. This bird was migrating north. A total of 37 species today, among which Marsh Harrier, Black-necked Grebe and the first Nightingales of this year.
