This week this park reopened after being closed for a long time. It was said to be worth a visit especially in times of migration. During the short time I spent in the park I observed quite a few species, but I think the biggest attraction of this place are the vast number of different tree species. I spent some time talking to one of the people who are responsible for the park and learned a bit about its history. Under pressure of an environmental movement the council decided to reopen the park. We now have to hope that visitors respect this peaceful place.
Black Redstart |
Raven |
I am not a butterfly expert at all, but lately I am seeing a lot of these colourful insects everywhere.
Red Admiral (vanessa atalanta) |
The beautiful Red Admiral is a well-known butterfly that spends the winter in the south of Europe and migrates to the north in spring.
Spotless Starling |
Chiffchaff |
Easy-to-follow track in the park |
I am not a tree or plant expert either, but I can't remember seeing so many different tree species in one single park.
One of the more open spaces |
Definitely a place to go back to and find a good spot to wait patiently for the smaller birds to come and perch in front of my lens.
If you want to visit the park, keep in mind that there is a gate that is only open on weekdays between 9 and 14, although in the future they may open till 18.
